A New Direction for GLR: Moving Forward in the Work
In fall 2021, the Baltimore Campaign for Grade Level Reading (GLR), a long-time initiative of the Fund’s focused on engaging families in their child’s literacy development, transitioned its work. After much reflection, the Fund decided to expand and reimagine the work to focus on family engagement for all grade bands and academic areas. Taking what we learned from years of interactions and feedback from families, we are focusing more intentionally on family engagement as an academic strategy, an area of work that we believe is high priority, high impact, and underdeveloped. This new chapter does not mean that we have closed the door to ensure that all students in Baltimore are reading on grade level, but our commitment and scope of work has broadened to support more City Schools students and their families.
