As we approach the season of gratitude and giving thanks, the Heart of the Schools is excited to launch Share Some Love Thanksgiving campaigns for schools within the Baltimore City Public Schools district.
We’re inviting community members to write heartfelt messages to their favorite City Schools staff members, letting them know how much they are valued and appreciated for their dedication to our students’ success. It’s the perfect way to spread love and positivity this Thanksgiving. Don’t see your school listed? Reach out to your principal and encourage them to sign up!
After over five years at the Fund for Educational Excellence, our esteemed colleague, Ruth Farfel, is transitioning from her role as Manager of Analysis and Engagement. Ruth first joined the Fund as the Program Associate for the Baltimore Campaign for Grade Level Reading (GLR) in 2018, where she supported literacy resource building for young students and their families.
During her time at the Fund, Ruth has contributed to critical efforts across the programmatic spectrum of the organization’s work, including: focusing on literacy improvement for grades K-3; assisting with grant reporting for the Fund’s development efforts and Heart of the Schools program; supporting all aspects of the Fund’s Analysis & Engagement reports; and leading coordination of the Fund’s School Choice Workshops.
Ruth will be greatly missed by everyone at the Fund for Educational Excellence. We wish her the best of luck in her future endeavors!
October is National Principals Month! We believe the principalship plays a critical role in creating positive school cultures that foster growth and improved outcomes for the staff, students and families they serve. While the Heart of the Schools celebrates principals year-round, we wanted to take this opportunity to thank all the principals who work tirelessly to create a safe, supportive, and engaging learning environment for their students.
Take a look below at some principal praise we’ve received, and shared, from community members over the years:
On November 28, 2023, people all around the world are coming together for GivingTuesday, a global day of unity and giving that seeks to harness the power of human connection, generosity, and positive change.
